Consent for the research project in ViBes (teachers)

Research Project on Vlogging
This is an invitation to participate in the research part of the Erasmus+ project ViBes. The purpose is to investigate, together with participating teachers as co-researchers, how you explore and work with vlogging in teaching throughout a school year involving exchange between the participating schools. The aim is to highlight opportunities and challenges with vlogging in school. This document provides information about the goals of the research project. We ask for your permission to collect data material and inform you about what participation will involve for you.
The research project is a collaboration between researchers at NTNU | The Writing Centre, the Department of Teacher Education at NTNU, Dublin City University, and teachers from Kattem school, Talbot SNS, and VBS Ourodenberg. NTNU is the institution responsible for the research project.
It is entirely your choice whether you wish to participate in the research part of ViBes. To research the partnership and gather empirical data on the action research carried out in ViBes, we would like to collect the vlogs produced by teachers during the exchange from November 2024 to June 2026, conduct interviews after each vlog phase, and take screen recordings of some project meetings between NTNU, DCU and your school. ViBes activities can still proceed as planned even if you choose not to participate in the research dimension.
Data collection will occur during the weeks of the project and some project meetings where we share experiences and plan future steps. We are interested in the reflections teachers and the rest of the project group make during the vlog exchange – about the development of your own vlogging practice as teacher/researcher, collaboration across countries, observations of pupil processes, and didactic opportunities and challenges in school vlogging.
Participation is voluntary, and only data from those who consent will be collected. Pupils and guardians receive separate consent forms, so this consent is on your behalf. If you agree to participate, you can withdraw at any time without giving a reason. In that case, collected information will be anonymized and recordings deleted. Everything we collect is treated respectfully, and the project complies with applicable data protection regulations. You will be anonymized, and your contributions cannot be traced back to you. Only the research team has access to personal data and recordings. Interview recordings and other identifying data will be deleted by the end of the project (end of 2030). Vlogs will be stored securely with access limited to the research team.
Your Rights
As long as you can be identified in the data material, you have the right to object, request access, and request correction or deletion of information we process about you. You will receive a response from us within one month. We will provide a clear explanation if we believe that you cannot be identified or that your rights cannot be exercised.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Norwegian Data Protection Authority (Datatilsynet) regarding how we process your information.
Legal Basis for Processing Your Data
We process your data for purposes related to scientific research, and because the research project has been deemed to be in the public interest.
On behalf of NTNU, the Data Protection Services at Sikt – the Norwegian Agency for Shared Services in Education and Research – have assessed that the processing of personal data in this project is in accordance with data protection regulations.
